  1. Another student responded about how they feel about the stories saying they are disgusted and shocked. I do not agree that the stories bring disgust to my mind. It is how the way the chinese have to live and that's how their culture works, it may not be how we enjoy living our life, but they have no other choice. The classmate did say that Chicken Yang was disgusting and i do have to agree with that, he does seem to be an old perverted man. - Asha Sathre

  2. One of my classmates said that she feels that Jeanne is calling Wan Li by her Chinese name because that is part of who she is. I agree with this because part of who you are and how you identify yourself is by your name. When I ask all my friends to describe me they say "you're Dustin."

  3. Someone said reading this stories she/he felt disgusted and shocked, to me i was more shocked, but i didn't feel disgusted because that's how Chinese culture is.... But i do agree with them for feeling disgusted when Chicken Yang touched her. -detxenyang

  4. One classmate wrote about a struggle being that when Chinese comet to America they have absolutely nothing, and how hard that would be for anything to have to go through. I agree with this because that would be incredibly hard to have to endure. Almost impossible.

  6. One classmate said that in one of the chapters a character tries to change herself and tries to be less and less Chinese. No matter how hard she tried however she would always be Chinese whether she liked it or not. I think this is a very interesting point of view. I did find in many of the circumstances with the women trying to look more American that this is true. -Sarah Lindwall

  7. One of the other classmates said how hard it was having a New York life style, and how hard it would be coming from china and just fitting in. I agree. it makes it very hard for them. it can also make it very hard for the people around them.

  8. It is look like every one was shocked with Chinese culture. Every one has a different culture as per country. I don't think that the story was disguest. But i am agree that some part of the story was Disguest.

Honestly, I disagree a lot with many commons about Chinese cultures.Like you have to sleep in the same bed with someone. It is not a culture. Because they are too poor to have their own bed, so they reluctantly have to sleep in same bed.

  12. I would also have to agree with your name making you who you are. Once something or someone has a name, they are always called that name and it becomes a part of them. If someone were to call out the name of something, everyone would think of what that thing is because of it's name. Calling Wan Li by her Chinese name isn't a bad thing because it was her given name by her parents and it is who she is.

i also agree with one of my class that in life our name is inportant to us because that is how people can identify us as a person.

  14. There are many things i agree with an also stuff i dont agree with. One i dont agree with is someone said they feel disgusted and shocked. that is the way that chinese culture has to live there life weather they like it or not. Something that i agreed with that where ever your grow up that will always be your culture, thats how you were raised to live and when you have to accomplish something you will use the way you first learned

  16. I agree that everyone has their own opinion as to how different cultures live. It is sad but, true that all cultures have their own skeletons in the closet.

  17. I agree with the one comment made about just because they shared one bed in the story , due to their lack of money ... doesnt mean that , that is the Chinese Culture . I think because people don't fully understand the culture , doesnt mean that what occurs in the story is what that whole culture or the people do . Just like the comment about the siliva candy thing ... just because chicken yang did it doesnt mean people are in villages chewing on candy thats covered in silva or something .
