What information can you learn about the author from the blog links that you didn't know from the book?
I learned Wang Ping attended Beijing University and left China to go to the U.S. in 1985 where she studied. She then received her doctorate from New York University.
I learned that she was born in Shanghai and grew up on a small island in the East China sea. She attended Beijing University after working three years farming in a mountain village.
I learned that she went through the struggles that many of the characters in the book went through. Something else that is interesting is that she accidentally went to a creative writing class and immediately loved it, which was her start to her writings of her novels. -Sarah Lindwall
She now lives in St. Paul, Minnesota, and teaches creative writing at Macalester College. Her current research is on China's globalization and modernization.
I learned the author struggled the same as the charectors of her book. She desperatly wanted an education and she hustled till she got what she wanted. Inspires me if she can come from 0 so can the next person.
Lela R V i learned that most of the stories that she wrong in the book of the Last Communist Virgin was the same as her story that she went thourgh went she was a little girl coming up.
